About us

My whole working life has been involved in building and construction. Starting out as a carpenters' mate at 17 years old I soon progressed into general building later on.

I was employed as a trainer whilst working for the Suffolk Wildlife Trust and then worked for a short period in estate agency. The completion of a Bsc in building surveying rounded off my formative years.

Since then I have continued in construction and building. Working for large corporate clients such as Whitbreads Plc project managing public house renovations through to country house renovation.

I like to think of myself as having a very rounded career profile. The two threads in everything I've done are; the 'people' side (my clients), and the craft element of producing something physical. I get a buzz out of giving people what they want.

Since moving to France in 2002 I've carried on my building business and have gained a reputation for quality work and attention to detail. In my time here I have also had the opportunity to see other people 'doing up' their own homes.

There are many people who are successful in restoring their property, adding financial value, and achieving their goal. But equally there are many who, although their dreams are as real, lack the knowledge and skill to effectively restore their home.

Some skills 'appear' difficult and complicated to the untrained eye. Most of these tasks are achievable by the majority of homeowners. However, with appropriate guidance.

I am a great believer in mixing ancient with modern. Whilst, for example, I am happy to explain lime render and plaster pigmenting, I also have experience with thin bed mortar making systems and metal stud walling. Used in the appropriate manner these can help to simplify and economise a DIY renovation

Its with 'Enablers' that I'm offering potential clients this professional insight and guidance.
